Alright so I went to autozone and they ran the code, apparently my truck is still freaking out over my "check fuel cap" problem that keeps flashing up on my LCD screen... I tried tinkering with the tube that iLariat posted about and that did nothing for me... Im not leaking gas anywhere, so I'm lost as to what's wrong... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Go to napa and get a gas cap for the truck. Put a new one on and clear the code by pullin the negative cable. My wife's bonneville had that issue and it was a leak at the cap itself.
It's not the cap, it's a brand new cap, I had the guy at autozone look at it too and the seal is brand new and completely fine. And the negative battery cable clears it? Not the positive? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
yeah, disconnect the neg cable (so you don't short something out if you lay the pos cable on some metal...) and leave it unhooked for 10min, that should completely clear all the codes and everything
Looks can be deceiving. My wifes looked fine until I put a new one on and that cleared the code and hasn't came back since and that was a code I was chasing for over a year. Replaced coil packs,o2 sensor, cats, tuneup... Trying a new cap won't hurt. At worst you can walk right in and return it before you leave.
It should respond immediately if I switch them out? And so I disconnect both cables now? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
1. go to autozone. 2. disconnect the negative battery terminal. 3. go in store and buy new gas cap make sure to spend at least 10 minutes in the store so look at stuff you don't need right now. 4. Replace gas cap 5. connect battery terminal
Here's the plastic piece I switched out with a fercno rubber PVC clamp. This is what I thought was giving me an engine code. I was told the plastic piece has the engine silencer in it?
