I've got a JLT intake coming and was wondering about making an air scoop for it. I remember hearing something about cowl hoods forcing air from the pressure off the windshield. Which do You think is better and why?
yes, a ram air hood is best. air flows in the direction its needed. on the cowl, it actually has to make a 180^ turn to get back into the engine bay. remember, most BALLS hot rods had the ram air hood, like the 442 and the BBF/BBC, where as everything else had a cowl (my 72 chevy w/ the 350 had a cowl). RoadRunner had a functional lifting ram air hood. THAT was sweeeeeet.
Cowl all the way on a truck. I'm not a fan of ram air hoods on heavy work trucks. It's like they are trying to rice out a work truck
Cowl looks best, ram may work better. Not sure how much you'd gain from the ram air, but unless it's a ton I'd do the cowl hood.
lol cowl is going to be easier. I want a hood like 281Screw has, but don't have the $$ for it and shipping right now. Want to get a level and 35s first anyways. I'll probably get a cowl scoop from Summit and fab it up.
