The coyote motors are the new 5.0's and come with 412hp stock. The old 5.0's like the one pictured comes with maybe 225hp. Just adding a tune and a good exhaust you can get 450hp in the new 5.0 .
The old 5.0's are actually 4.9's. Since Ford actually already made a 4.9 6 banger back in the day, to cut down on confusion Ford called their V8 a 5.0. That said those old 5.0's can be made into beast! I think the Coyote swap would be the bee's knees though! That's what I've been wanting to do myself. Actually left my number with a guy today at Moe's who's thinking of selling his 88 5.0 LX. Car was in damn good shape and I think he might not have known or cared what he had. Good info bama. Didn't know that. Good luck getting the Fox! I talked to a guy about a paint job and he told me that he would strip it to bare metal, remove all molding and paint them and fix a spot in the floor board for $2500. Thats a lot but I've seen his work and you get what u pay for. And since that's the first thing I'm going to have done, it's saving time. I can't wait.
Just ordered a few parts from rockauto. They have some great prices and tons of parts. I got a rear floor pan, oil pan and gasket, and since I'm changing our the water pump I figured I would go ahead and get a timing chain and gear. Next is clutch and interior paint then big time saving for the paint job.
In going back white and keeping the interior grey. Should look real good lowered with 18" chrome saleen wheels.
