Vano i would bow down to you if you pulled off an SAS on an 04-08. or even if you pulled off an ifs 4x4 conversion still it would be some work but deffinately worth it

Don't forget all the IWE stuff and solonoids. I think a SAS would be a better swap personally. You'd still use a lot of stuff from the donor truck.

    Transmission
    Transfer Case
    Driveshafts

And it would be a lot easier to hook up the front axle. Instead of worrying about the vacuum lines and IWE Solenoids and nonsense. Just pull the lever in the transfer case and spin the hubs and you're good to go. I'll try and find a link for you...

i think i could handle an IFS conversion, especially if i have the donor truck parked in my driveway, but the SAS is a whole new beast, and would definitely hit my pocket book harder than an IFS conv. I wonder, would the powertrain from an expedition work? they made them w/ 4.6 4x4 didn't they?

great links! i'm thinkin an SAS, even though as BA as they are, would be overkill. I don't plan on bein rough on my suspension where it would warrant a SAS. think the 4wd conv is still my way to go. even if i would have to run all the airlines/solenoids, the truck is wired in the cab so I'm hopin everything is there for that but the lines...

How long do you think this project will take you? Are you doing it in your driveway? Are you sure you want to be without your truck for months at a time? Do you have a beater to drive while this project is going?

I'm not one to knock a man's hustle but if you work as much as I do (or more like you have said you do) then IS it something that you can do (and have all the right tools) in a timely manner? There's nothing I hate worse than being without my truck.
