Can someone Swap an 09 Tailgate onto their 04-08 bed?

    I swear they should fit width wise. I'm almost positive ford didnt move the striking plates, but if they did, thats easy fix provided the hinges are the same. And I know the new tailgates have that flare to them that my bed sides dont. I can fix all that, but if the tailgate doesnt go on, then who cares bout the other issues.

    So... If anyone out there that has an 04-08 and knows someone w/ an 09+ and wouldnt mind lettin you "test fit" their tailgate, i'd be much appreciated. Thanks!

    it should fit...provided the bed hieghth is the same

    someone on another forum a while back just took a tape measure and said there was a 1/2" difference. i find that hard to believe but i dont have a way to verify...

    oh man, I shoulda copied the pic. One of the other forums had a pic of someone that did this swap. It fits and bolts right up, the only problem is the body lines are all off, it looked kinda fugly...

    you swear on your great state that it worked? i gotta see what it looked like. I thought the lights would line up w/ that middle hump they threw in there, and then the lil flare wasnt a problem to me as I could just tac some sheet metal to that shape on the end of my box end. If you can find that link, that would be SWEEEEEET. I think I am gonna start lookin for a tailgate w/ step.
