Just like the title says, i've started to get rid of all my scratches from off-roading last year finally. using Turtle Wax hard compound - heavy duty. applying by hand then using my 10" polisher to buff it to a shine. most of the light "fingernail" scratches come off in 1-2 applications. the HUGE scratches that run the length of my door are taking 5-10 applications. you can notice in this pic that there are 2 marks running the length of the doors on the front, but the top scratch starts to fade once it is on the back door.

that is the line i have been focusing on. i think it will be blended by tonight, and i will start on the lower one, back door, tomorrow. one door at a time. i'll update pics as I finish every night.

it gets those "fingernail" scratches off right away. I'll take other shots when I get home to show the difference when using this stuff.

    thanks again bro

    you got a dent?

so here are the pics from yesterdays buffing. first the equipment:

tutrtle wax heavy duty rubbing compound, few microfiber applicators (if you dont have a secondary power tool to apply), and a 10" buffer for polishing. this stuff works even if applying by hand but the buffer for polishing is a must.

first dampen your applicator and apply some as so:

you'll want to apply in a circular motion centered along the scratch line. if using a power tool for applicator remember to let the tool do the work. dont push down and do not stay on corners/edge lines for too long or it will distort them. now, some before and after pics.

you can notice that the long scratch that ran the length of the hood line is GONE! the scratch coming up to the hood line is slightly lighter. that was a deeper one so i had to do it 2 more times using lots elbow grease.

compound should be applied to clean, cool surface out of direct sunlight. i'll be focusing on my bed in front of my tail light tonight. this will be the 4th day in a row i have washed this side of my truck as all road grime each day needs to be removed too. let me know what you guys think. i'll keep uploading my progress, less detail more pics.
