What setup are you using? Just a straight extension or with wobbles? Penetrating oil over night sprayed on it will help

Question: if I put my starter on but it's just spinnin when I try to start the truck, does that mean I'm just out of alignment and its not catching the flywheel or is it something else? Thanks!

Replaced a Kubota tractor starter did the same thing
turns out the field magnets were installed backwards
and the starter was spinning reverse of the correct way.
Zat a new starter or the same one that came off?

Same one. Nothing is crossed, all wires back on the same as before. It started the truck up last night before I took it off a 2nd time but this time it just spins. Skips then spins actually.

Damn near a pro at removin the starter so I'll back out the bolts and try again. I think I cranked the bottom ones down before the top and it's pulled it down and out of alignment, if that's what others think it might be, alignment issue. Please more chime in. And thanks so far Joe :waytogo:

Just make sure that the springs are still good and the plunger moves in and out, it sucks to bust off a couple teeth and jam the whole thing up...
