well i dont think the high idle cause the alternator to go out, im pretty sure the alternator has been dead for a few days and the truck has been running on only the battery, which would explain why my battery is completely dead. but could a bad alternator cause a high idle? is the stock alternator 130 amps?
did it high idle cuz the truck sensed the charging system was about to go out, so it ramped up RPMs to gain some power that it was lacking from not charging?
thats what i was thinking happened...because it only started to idle high RIGHT before i got locked out and the truck proceeded to die on me
well got the alternator put back in and the belt on...dont know why it took me so much longer last night to do it LOL. now i just need a jump and ill be good to go
You get her started? My truck did the same thing to me when i had her and i just ended up haveing the shop rebuild the alternator into a higher amperage cause of everything i was running on my truck and i was tired of going thru alternators..
Yeah got her started after a buddy jumped it. Dropped it off at vatozone for them to put a full charge on it. Life is good
