Pics of mounts, basically spacers welded onto rack an then the bottom of the spacer 5/16 bolt welded on and flushed, rubber washer and sealant for watertight
I don't want anything to heavy up there but big thing is for when I haul wood an stuff instead of it leaning against my cab it goes against the roof and it allows me to tie it off, also lets me mount lights up top and down the road ill be getting some expanded metal that'll be secured with ring clips for across the crossmembers
Sooooo it's mounted, lights are on and did a quick test, insanely bright ( that pic is from 150ft away. So now just waiting on my deck connector so I can finish an finalize the wiring but pics! Ill get better ones tomorow during the day
I'm going to be the downer. And ask why you used that type of a mount. I know you say it's only to prop stuff onto. I know better than that. You at some point will have some weight up there, and those mounts dont seem too weight distributing. I would be afraid of possibly pushing a hole through or a nice dent. Again, just my opinion; But honestly, expected it to be more over kill coming from you.
Thanks man, idk honestly I can't imagine too bad. I will be putting some sound mat on the roof though. Our trucks have none up there or the pillars at all
It's hard to see in the pics but that's the factory seam where all the panels come together and are welded, it's about 1/4" thick of metal there. I was sitting on the edge of the rack earlier working on the lights an it didn't flex at all. So it supported 160lbs no problem on one side not even dispersed so I shouldn't have any issues, and ill never have anywhere near that much weight up there
And as far as the rear mounts go I specifically placed those a well because its right at that same seam but there is also and extra factory brace there, albeit a pita to get the nut in there but it is definitely strong Edit just realized the mount pics I posted one twice an not the inside pics, it didn't work for some reason ill try to take some more tomorow
