Mineral spirits isn't as strong as acetone. Acetone is the main ingredient in nail polish remover. Mineral spirits is good for cleaning paint brushes and such, but when it comes to hardcore cleaning, acetone is the strongest.
When I heard "strong" I was thinking of Ethyl acetate. Stay away from MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) it's also used as a plastic welder. We used MEK in ultrasonic cleaners to remove stubborn baked on oil based inks in the 620 dpi metal plates of commercial printers.
Can one find acetone at home depot? And isn't that the stuff suggested to use to take the paint and plastic film off of our ford symbols on the grill?
nail polish remover. and like i told you on XBL do not use brake cleaner. it will etch up the plastice and look like crap. i can take pics of how bad it looks if you want
ah, well, I'd still slowly work my way up. I don't know how good that plastic is on the lights and would hate to have him melt them
